So if you're not worried about 100% authenticity, what is the nicest LOOKING shade to paint my 55 CA parade/play toy? Persian 1 or 2?

Touchy subject at times. Really comes down to personal preference if your not concerned about being authentic. If you go to to shows PO 2 seams to be the most widely used. If I was trying to reproduce a tractor strictly for show then I would go with the color it came from the factory to be authentic. Me personally find PO2 the nicest color. JMO of course.

Me, I'd like to go with the shinier, deeper looking one.

Well, that’s the color I’d paint it. It’s your tractor and saving it is what counts. JMHO

I've found that a lot of the tractors at shows that are painted PO 1 (with very expensive automotive paint), the color appears to be almost a brown tint to it. I would hate to pay for very expensive paint, only to find that I didn't like the color when it was dry.

I took some advice, a while back, from DSeries4, who said he uses AGCO (Valspar) paint. I have had excellent results with it. The problem I'm finding now is that my local AGCO (Massey Ferguson) dealer (who is a very good dealer) tells me that they have to have a huge paint order to get AGCO paint.

Does anyone know of any AGCO dealers that will ship AGCO paint?

Yes, I have used AGCO (corporate orange) paint many times and I am very happy with how it sprays and its finish.  The dealer that I use is 2 hours away from me, but they ship it through the courier.  I have not bought any in the last couple of years though - they do not sell the gallon buckets anymore, just quarts.
I got a rattle can of AGCO PO1 to try and I was not happy with the color.  It looked too dark.  I went to my local paint shop and looked through their colors.  I found a color called Omaha Orange that I like and it looks to be pretty close to the original paint on my 58 D14.  I used it on My G last year and it came out good.  It doesn't have a super bright shine, but is still very good.  I am going to use it again on my upcoming WD45 diesel project.
Here are pictures of my G and my 190XT so you can see the color difference.  It's your tractor and you can paint it how you like.  I am a purist though.  I try to get as close to original as possible.
