Dave, the one major difference I noted is the front axle on the 720 is heavier duty then the 620 although some of the early 720s still had the lighter duty axle. Know a couple other items escape me on the differences.

Biggest difference was decals, but the 720 came with more options available

a bunch of the pto stuff is differant if i rember right but mine is a 616 with a lot of 720 stuff on it

I’m not aware of any implement differences. 2,000 rpm pto throughout the series. I have a tiller from the 616 era that works perfectly on my 720.

616 started out with multi piece/hanger bearing PTO shaft from engine to transmission and downdraft carburetor 16 hp Onan. 620/720 are one piece PTO shaft and have side draft carburetor 19/20 hp Onan. Same internal spline PTO connection for implements. 616 and early 620 also had narrower rear fenders.

720 with the heavy duty front axle if using a loader otherwise the 620 will do fine. 620 I had handled everything including the 52" snowblower. Used the snowblower and 60" mower on my 400' drive plus areas of our association common 1 mile driveway.

The wiring is a little different on 616 than the 620/720. Also the charging system is better on the 620/720 models.... Steve@B&B
