Friend has a really nice SC 3 bottom plow for sale. I need to verify but I think it’s 16” bottoms. What are they bringing these days?

Well, a 63 would be worth more than a 53. A 73 more than either. No idea what the market is like in your part of the country. I have multiples of each of those models, really like the 73 but it is kind of heavy on a 45.

A good one with nice wear parts, that's really important, should be worth $300. Might take awhile to find a buyer though.

People know I have a 'thing' for plows. I get tips and go look at quite a few. Have so many now that I don't even talk price if they aren't top-drawer. No point insulting someone for something I really don't need anyway.

I sometimes think AC sold at least one 53 plow with every WD and 45 that went out the door! Seem to be everywhere around here. Two bottoms are much less common, here anyway.

It was on a D17 previously but I haven’t been by recently to see if I can figure out what model it is. Will try to get by there to take a few pics.

Auctions around here, used to be big Allis country, they bring $75.00 to 125.00 each. I bought a 4x16 3 point for $100.00 2 months ago. And a 3 point with tail wheel and depth wheel with cylinder for $200.00. Both are good plows.

A few more random thoughts on plow values; Slat bottoms, good ones  add to the value some but not tons. Bad ones pretty much bring them down to scrap price. If the slats are broken or just worn out it seems to follow that the rest of the plow is pretty much junk. They have probably sat outside and the adjustments are all frozen.

The interesting thing about slat bottom plows to me is that I've never seen an Oliver plow with them. I know they were available, seen them in manuals, just never seen one in person. Have seen plenty of Orange ones, have three. See quite a few Red ones and some of the other green. Of the three I have, one really nice one, one that fits my other category and oddly enough one kind of in between.

Dad and Uncle Bob had 70 series 3 x 16's slat bottoms on WD45's. The theory was the slat 16's didn't pull much harder than 14" regular bottoms, which helped a WD45 out in being able to pull 3 x 16's.

Finally went over to take a look in his dark building and was disappointed to find out that the coulters are not with the plow. He actually bought it without the coulters as the gentleman could not find them. A decal has a part number 375 14 Bottom so I’m assuming it’s 14” instead of the 16” I guessed. It’s a spring trip plow. Has the Allis Chalmers decal on the side but no model number.
