| I rebuilt my power director on my 190xt. High and low work well, but neutral does not seem to work. With the p.d. in the neutral position the tractor continues to roll forward. It is much more than a creep.. feels no different than being in low range. Even with the brakes pressed down the tractor rolls on. I've tested my pressures at the actuating valve: high 300+ psi, low 300+ psi, and neutral 40psi. I've adjusted my linkage to see if that would have any impact, but still no neutral. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Yes, I know they're flat and I'm I'm pretty confident that none of them are splind to the hub. I know the book says neutral should have 60psi. I'm reading 40... is that part of the issue? |

| How bad does it creep with the transmission is in road gear ???? Until you get the hydraulic oil temperature up to 150F or more degrees, it will always creep to a degree. Pretty hard to get oil temp that hot in winter. I say there's nothing wrong with it just yet. |

| Well that makes me feel a little better. Oil definitely didn't get that hot. The creep is no different than putting the tractor in low range. In 8th, if I move the p.d. to neutral it is the same speed as 7th. |

| You're telling me, with the tractor on level ground, power director clutch in NEUTRAL, engine at 1000 RPM, shift the transmission into road gear, when you let out on the foot clutch and hold the brakes the tractor moves and gets up to 7th gear speed ?? |

| Yes, it is that way for all the gears, forward and reverse. My brakes aren't great. If I press the brakes with the power director in nuetral, I slow a little but it would be the same as pressing the brakes in 7th gear. Everything seems to be adjusted according the service manual so I'm just puzzled. |

| Let's get something straight....it will creep MORE in 1st gear than it will in ROAD gear !! I still say nothing wrong and it's just viscous drag somewhat like a torque converter but I didn't assemble the clutch, so maybe there is something wrong, but I doubt it. Is this tractor new to you ?? because most Allis guys are used to clutch creep with COLD oil because that's just the way it is. |

| This is the only allis I've ever worked on. Got it a couple years ago and have been slowly working on it. Guy before me had it for 10 years and said the p.d. nuetral never worked for him. I'd like to use this as a baling tractor. The last couple summers I'd use it to ted and would throw it in nuetral to test it. I would think the oil got hot enough, but still no nuetral. |

| OK. You just had the clutch apart....what was wrong with it?? what parts were replaced ?? Did you air check it just before you rolled the tractor back together ?? Each half of the clutch the discs and plates should have been floppy and free to move back and forth with no air applied to either side. With one side air applied the other side becomes even looser ?? |

| The discs were warped and my pressures werent as high as they needed to be. While I had it out I replaced everything besides the housing. Yes I put air to it and watched to make sure it was working. Yes they were free to move back and forth with no air. |

| Then, it has to be viscous cold oil drag. Where are you checking clutch pressures ?? At the valve is the best with two gauges. |

| Any chance the PD valve is sticking/binding? Happened on my 200. Thanks to Dr. Allis, after cleaning and light honing, it works perfect now. |

| Yes, I'm checking my oil pressure at the valve. This will be the first summer with the rebuilt p.d. Hopefully the warmer temp will help. |

| I know there was no dragging or binding when I had the inspection cover off. Were you having trouble with nuetral on your 200, or just the p.d. in general? |

| On my 200 sometimes it would not release when shifted to neutral. Lever would move, but tractor kept going. After working the lever back and forth, it would finally release. Then when shifted from neutral to high or low it would grab all at once and throw you backwards. Took the valve off the side and cleaned and honed it lightly and it was smooth as silk. The valve was full of built up crap. |

| Well that is good to know. My valve was cleaned up when it was taken off. If I'm still having trouble that might be worth looking into. |

I hope that you can get it to work properly; I think that you'll like baling with it. Mine works as it should, and just a rough guess, I'd bet I've made close to 15,000 big round bales with it since I've owned it. Darrel |
