I am trying to convert one of my 7060s thats a bare back to 3pt,nearly all 7000 series sold in Western Australia were for broad acre so finding one that’s already got 3pt is near impossible. Most sold on the eastern side of the country are 3pt so i have bought all the parts off a wrecker over there.(only one left in the country with allis stuff).
My question ,as the allis service manual doesn’t mention the 3pt much, does the wheel and final drive on the right hand side have to be removed to install the bottom torsion tube and torsion spline shaft ? Seems likely its the only way. 🙁
Thanks

YES. Right side final drive has to be removed. Lift arm housing has to be swapped out for one with lift cylinder and lift arms.

Ok thanks doc,i have already installed the lift housing and ram. When removing final drive is it easier to just take out the bolts that attach the cab to the axle mount bracket and leave that attached to the axle housing or undo the big u bolt? Also when removing final drive does the ring gear and planetary come off as one with the axle housing or get left behind?
Cheers

I always removed the four cab bolts and the rear nut on the U-bolt and took the cab support bracket clear off. The planetary will stay with the axle and will not fall off the axle. Ring gear could go either way and the sun gear may stay behind or go with the planetary. To assemble, sun gear engaged in the diff, ring gear glued to the trumpet housing and a couple long dowel bolts to guide things together while you wrestle with it. Getting the final drive/axle assembly hung and balanced properly if KEY to things going together easily.

Thanks doc, never had to pull a final off before since we have owned them ,76 till now,so it will be a first, also do i have to drain rear end and final drive or just the one final drive ?the 3 point has only a hose on the ram that plugs into one remote, have tried it and works ok ,thought I would get the all the proper factory setup but not to be, guess i just have to not let it get to full lift.
Thanks for your help.
