I am not all that familiar with AC, so I am seeking help. Will an IH CYCLO (air) planter work on an AC 200 tractor? Specifically, I need to know if the PTO shaft, (which will be powering a shaft mounted hydraulic pump) will continue to run if the clutch pedal is depressed.

My memory of the 1970's is fading in certain respects, but it seems to me I recall a neighbor of mine having problems keeping his CYCLO planter running on an AC 200. When he depressed the clutch pedal, the PTO would stop, therefore losing air pressure to the planter.

Now, a friend of mine is looking to buy an AC 200, and plans on using it to pull his CYCLO planter, but I have cautioned him that the AC 200's PTO may cut out when ever the clutch is depressed.

(The 200 I referred to above from the 1970's was a brand spanking new tractor at the time that my neighbor was having trouble keeping the PTO running while depressing the clutch. He has since passed away so I can't go back to him to ask about this.)

The 200 in question is currently having some engine work done, so we can't run it at the moment to test the PTO, and, there is no operator's manual available with this tractor so we can't read up on it that way.

Can anyone with AC experience clear this up one way or the other?

You have to use the Power Directer lever which is the high, low, neutral. Its kind of like the old hand clutch on like the CA, WD45 and the D series tractors. To be honest, I love my 200, but it takes a little bit to get used to. Yes, you will stop the PTO when you use the clutch. But if you use the power director, by putting it in the neutral position, the tractor will stop and the PTO will continue to run. One downfall is, you cannot switch gears unless you use the clutch. _popupControl();
