I'm curious of the whereabouts of the 7000 prototype. Would be neat to see it sometime at a show.

I've heard that it is in the Fannetti collection in Wisconsin

Thanks. I assuming that's a family farm or family collection of tractors and could a person go see it while on a vacation.

Calvin
Is that a different collection than the Don Fanetti Estate that was Auctioned Off in Menomonie back in 2016.

Don's widow had last right of refusal on all the tractors on that auction. It was a court ordered legal mess with Don's nephews. Marylin exercised her rights and bought a number of the tractors and has her own collection which I'm told includes the prototype replica of the 7000. She also still has the last Allis Chalmers tractor built, the 6070.

A few years ago at the Orange Spectacular there was a recreation of the prototype 7000 series tractor, I think it was made out of a 7060. Is that the one you are talking about?

There probably would be a proto 7000. And there would be proto's of the 7000 series, which was the 7030/7050. Two completely different tractor designs.

The one in the Fanetti collection is a reproduction. Very well done.

If that's the prototype, then I'm glad they changed the tin work for the real production.

that picture was taken at Hutch few years ago, there was a written description on how this was done, mostly copied from the picture in Norm's book, IIRC it was built on a 7060PS tractor. the description was a couple pages, and told how the sheet metal was recreated to build this one,, it also had a for sale sign on it and was sold before the end of the show

Didnt Allis have an outside party design the sheet metal style for the last release 7000 series ??

I think the story goes that after the proto styling you see in the above picture, that's when they hired an outside designer for the beginning of the 7000 series.

Well,I'm used to them by now but when that 7000 design showed up I thought it looked crazy ugly! What did they do to my orange tractors!

I wasn't too proud of them either in the beginning. What a radical style for the times. Now, the 8000 series was just plain cool when they came out.

Whoever designed the 7000 prototype might have slanted its look to mimic the then new 4wd AC 440’s grill combined with the rugged look of AC220’s hood/rear fender lines?

I have always thought the 7000 series style was cool, and thought the 8000 series nothing special. Oh well, that's why they're opinions.

I was never quite sure what to make of the 8000 series grille being sloped the wrong way but I got used to it.

The 7000 series were out when Dad was negotiating on the 175. I was young and just there. Fell in love with them immediately. When the 8000's came out, it took me a long time to warm up to them! Now, I love how they look. Guess it's kind of like how our taste in food changes over time.

The tractor I saw was on you tube under the orange spectacular in 2018. So if the tractor in the picture is the same one in the video of the parade then yes that's the one i was asking about.
I personally like the look of it and think it would look good pulling a sled, just sayin.
