I just saw an 8050 FWA has come up for sale on Equipment Facts and I am curious about the 8.3 Cummins modification. The rear end was targeted to support a 169HP engine and maybe rear end is the same as an 8070 which is 189HP but would this 250HP engine be too much for the rear end? I searched the forum and no one has complained about rear end damage after installing an 8.3 so the rear end must be able to take the extra horsepower. In fact, most really like the 8.3 replacement that did it. They obviously went to a lot of work to fix up this tractor but I had to laugh at the splash of green paint left on front rims. Couldn't they have painted the rims to remove that or was it left there to get the John Deere price? After all that work, on the interior and exterior, they couldn't find time to paint the front rims? In terms of value, isn't an 8.3 and adapter kit about $15,000-$20,000 alone assuming it is a fairly good rebuilt engine? Anyone see an 8.3 Allis FWA sell lately? Would this be priced in the $25k-$30k or should it be much higher? | If the said tractor is/was never used to pull any more than it did at 170 rated PTO HP, probably no harm. BUT, 250 flywheel HP translates into 220 PTO HP and to actually make use of 220 PTO HP the tractor should weigh at least 22,000 lbs. So, using all the HP and weighing 22,000 to get it to the ground will surely( over time) wear or fail something in the driveline. |

| CaseIH used that motor in the 7110 at 130 hp all the way to the 8950 at 225hp. If a person doesn't want to stay with an Allis motor. It would seem like a perfectly logical swap. I don't think for all the magnums out there, motor issues were a huge concern. a lot of them were running more than advertised horsepower. An 8050 with an 8.3 running between 150 and 180hp would be a nice tractor. I think in an 8010 a 5.9 would be the ticket. |
