Hello everyone, I am in process of fabricating.
Bit of a purist, please bear with.
Was original Crane arms, bent to their shape?
All photos I have seen appear so….
I’m also needing a measurement….
Where the Crane arms slip over the lift arms, what’s the dimensions, of the 2 “C” shaped pieces?
These pieces hold Crane in place.
One has quick hitch pin.
My book shows that they are not a tight/snug fit.
Anyone who has an original, any measurements/ close pictures/with a ruler would be great!
Hope you guys are doing well, thanks again!

Yes,this topic, has been shared,to great extent, and give me instructions on how to get started.
I actually received some great information from you Dale, few years ago.I have since acquired a dealers parts catalog for the cranes.
I have 4” channel, I just don’t think it was cut? I think, by the pictures, channel looks bent, to fit, not cut.
I set up, a bending rig, crude but very effective. Turned out GREAT.
After placing bent channels on Allis,in place, lots of clamps, wedge and shims , with careful measurements.
I bent flat stock, to surround the the
Lift arms, nearest the lift arm bushing. Nice snug fit. I can assume, is needed? Further up the lift arm where the quick hitch pin is, where my question lies.
What’s the dimensions, how snug a fit? Going off pictures, in your email sent, and my catalog, these are also

Some day I'm going to build one or possibly two of these things. Ted J sent me the plans for them years ago. TIME is the big reason It's not been accomplished yet! So many stupid little projects I'd like to get kn knocked out but can't seem to get to.

There's pictures of my crane the main tube is 42" and the one that slide in is 41" and there was a hook with a swivel on the end till I tryed to drag with it and broke it off. It was copied after a AC one.

If you were to have the additional lift rams for that crane. Where do they attach on the tractor end.

Mike. The original RAM gets removed from its position on the rocker arm shaft and reattached to point number one on the picture I posted. Realistically all it does is extend the length of the original crankshaft arm for more leverage. I have a good pic of it but can not get uploaded...Dale....got it

For you purists, this is definitely not original.
This is my farm crane I built a couple years ago on my D17. Mostly built for getting large pumpkins out of the field. Extended fully it is all of 8' above the ground. Haven't used it for anything else, but, was able to lift my #2 3-16 plow with boom retracted.
Going from memory, the tubes that slide over the lift arms are 2"x3" 1/4" wall. The telescoping boom is 2"x2"x1/4" inside of 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1/4". On the end of the boom is a plate with keyhole slots so I can adjust the length of the chain. The chain has regular chain hook on one end, and choker hook on other end.
The holes that pin it to the lift arms are towards the bottom of the tubes to increase lift angle.
