I recently bought a D-19 with transplanted 262 combine engine. Governors were not changed at time of replacement, Should they be changed before doing any work or play with it? What is the hspwr. rating of combine engine vs. tractor engine? Thanks

There should be an engine ID tag riveted to the block. It might say G-262 or it might say G-230. To most people they look EXACTLY the same, because they really are except bore and stroke and the carburetor. Even at that, a later model (1967 ?) G-262 has a larger carb on it (Bendix) than older engines (Marvel) and has more power too. If the carb size is the same as a D-19, it will yield the same HP at the same RPM as a D-19 tractor engine. A combine governor has a control cable that directly connects to the throttle butterfly shaft on the carb. A tractor governor has linkage that goes down the left side of the engine to the top of the governor area and controls coil spring tension on the governor arm. So, what do you have ??   I cannot imagine running a combine governor set-up on a tractor.  The governor only works at 100% FULL throttle.
