Hello All,

my steering valve? where steering column is attached, appears a seal has a slight leak, I am trying to figure out how to remove the dash/instrument panel to get to it to install a new seal, i wasted money on one of those ebay aftermarket service manuals, it does not give any clue how to remove and access the steering valve, much less how to repair it, can anyone suggest where to locate a REAL service manual or how to repair ?  thanks.

We had to take one out of a 7580 once. I don't remember the exact details but we did it from the bottom. There are maybe 4 or 6 3/8 bolts that hold a plate on the bottom of the dash and a couple of small hex head bolts if they haven't already been broke off. Think there are 4 bolts that hold the orbital to the steering shaft (that has splines and slides in) plus the hoses. I don't remember for sure though.

Work thru the bottom for two lower bolts and all four hoses. I think you have to go thru the top to get to the top two bolts. Dashboard removal doesn't gain you anything but a broken steering wheel.

I was afraid going up through the bottom was the correct answer,  now if I can get my body twisted into position... thanks for your help.

Most of the time, I usually replaced all four hoses while resealing the orbitrol.
