Been two years since I've had the WD out but had a few free hours and a couple acres or so of bean field to play in, so I put the snap coupler plow on and went to work. Some video I put on youtube (actually figured out how to record in HD, just wish I had spent more time putting the camera in better spots with the sun, but hard to record yourself). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKDHqoT2ZjA" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKDHqoT2ZjA Anyway, just a few passes and the plow shined up nicely. I can never get it to stop sticking to the top pieces, but I plowed on anyway.       Anyway, after a few hours of fun, wire wheeled it all clean with my angle grinder and re-greased the plow and tucked it back in the shed. Had no issues pulling in 2nd gear wide open throttle. |

| Nice to plow with when they are working good. Have plowed alot of acers with a WD45 and three bottom plow in year past. MACK |

Nice video and your WD handled that 3 bottom plow easily. Beautiful soil that you turned over. Good to see old school tractors and equipment still in use. | In this area those top pieces that won't scour were called cover boards. Dad had several snap coupler plows, I can't remember his ever having them. You did a good job plowin with the old gal. It would have been a perfect day to plow here today. 80° and breezy. |

Nice video. Cover-boards are hard to get shined up enough they don't do that. I actually took them off my 73 plow as they contribute to plugging in trashy conditions. Plowed the garden yesterday. I like to dig deep in the garden, furrow measured 10".   |

| Boy, that brings back memories, spent many an hour on that same pair. Those "Old Girls" turned a lot of dirt in their day. Dad moved up from 2-16's to 3-14's, no problem except had to drop a bottom in alfalfa. |

Mack -- Indeed! I had a rough spot when hitting a bump where the tractor died on me about 30 seconds later. I think it knocked some gunk loose in the gas tank. I fiddled with the electrical and all was well, and finally when futzing with the gas side I saw a giant "swirl" go thru the sediment bowl and she fired back up. Other than that, plowed great! AC720Man -- Thanks! It was a lot of fun. I only get a chance to do it every other year (I only play in the bean trash, the way they plant corn anymore I would have to disc it up before I could plow it, seems like it plugs up too easy). 200Tom1 -- Thanks! Yeah, I am debating on taking the cover boards off for this soil... It just seems to ball up in there. It was in the mid-70s here; absolutely great captaindana -- Appreciate it! I should've taken a few more video angles, but working on learning my new camera and tripod system. IBWD Mike -- Definitely thinking I may need to take the coverboards off. This tractor used to be on a sandy farm, and up here in the clay I think it just gets plugged up on top. Nice job plowing good and deep there! Dennis J OPKs -- For sure, would love to know how many acres both my WDs have turned over in their prime. I can't imagine sitting on that seat for hours on end every day to go thru the fields. Definitely a more physically demanding job than one would expect. ac45dave -- Very cool! Seems like plowing in the bean trash is the best, seems to roll under nicely and not give too much grief. Pat the Plumber CIL -- Thank you! Nice to blow some cobwebs out and get the engine nice and warmed up for a change. :) |

Mine only comes out once a year for a couple hours of plowing, never misses a beat! When I first dragged my pull type Case plow out of the grove where it sat for 60+ years I dropped it in the ground just to see how it would work and it shined up like a new dime in about 15 min. ------------- 1951 WD #78283, 1918 Case 28x50 Thresher #76738, Case Centennial B 2x16 Plow |

tractorboy -- Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how some of these shots came out. That one and the other from the other angle I like quite a lot. Next time I think I'll put the camera for a closer view to the tractor going down and up the row so you can see the furrow/dirt roll. Sugarmaker -- Haha, well, I don't have a plow for that tractor. Or actually, I have the plow frame (apparently the one that came with the tractor) but the shares and mold boards are completely rotted out so it needs rebuilt before I can use it. But it is on the todo list haha. So it didn't get out of the shed for any plow adventures! Bill_MN -- It's fun to just take 'em out for a spin. I always joke that about the time I am ready to put it all back up, I've finally remembered what I'm actually doing and how to plow again lol. |
