Hello,

The right tire from my 220 seems to be loose on the axle. It has some free play, no matter how hard I adjust the screws from the wheel bushing halves. I readjusted them with 280ft-lbs like the manual says.

Also the dowel pin is worn, so looks like someone has drove it a time with loose bushing halves. Before I start to loosen the wheel some questions. Maybe some of you can answer them from experience.

- will the axle be worn or the bushing? Is the axle material harder?

Looks from the outside that the bushing halve isn't round anymore

- Are the bushing halves the same as the 7000 series (7060/7080)

- Do you have any tips or tricks maybe

Off course I hope that only the bushings are worn, not the axle....

Axle should be harder than wedges. The 210/220 have 3-5/8" axles, same as 7030/7050 if I remember right. Someone may have put some wrong parts in, but I'd sure think a 7040/7060 3-3/4" axle wedge would not even come close to tightening up. Unless only one half was wrong?

Thanks Ed. the left wheel (that doesn't have a problem) does not have numbers on the bushing halves.

The one with the problem has on the bushing without key/dowel the casting numbers: '256' that's exact the same as on my 7060.

So maybe you are right and would the problem be there, because it is the wrong bushing halve?

If it would help, I can post a picture of it.

The bushing with the "key" made into it should be parked at 12 oclock high with the wheel jacked off the ground. This bushing is ALWAYS tightened up flush/tight against the wheel center. The lower bushing is the "wedge" and is NEVER fully tight. Always a gap between it and the wheel center.

DrAllis, yes that is the way I adjusted it. But the wedge comes almost tight and the wheel is still loose on the axle.

Are those wedges Allis made? Or will the be the same for some deere models to maybe?
That would it make a little bit easier to come by here.

Allis/AGCO only. You need parts from a 210-220/…. 7030/7050 ......could make 7010/7020 work but would be missing one center bolt.

Thanks! Is the number on my wedge in the casting (256 256) to refer on a 7060 wedge indeed? Or how do I know it is the correct one for a 220 if i buy a new used one?

each half should fit half way around the axle very tightly, the wrong size like a 7060 half would not make contact with axle on the ends with the slightly larger inside diameter. The outer tapered part is the same. I'm betting someone put one wrong half in this.

The correct bushing will measure 3 5/8" across where it fits the axle. Yours are 3 3/4" is my wager.
