What is the lastest in diesel coolants?  GM dealer said to use Dexcool in my Duramax and I thought that was over-ruled already.  Green with SCA treatment or something like Cat EC-1?

Thanks

The Duramax has always had Dexcool from day 1. I see no reason to change now. I've never heard of a failure related to coolant other than simple neglect.

The Cat extended coolant is some really great stuff(shameless plug)

But I would stick with the dexcool if that is what you got.  Get some test strips and measure the ph from time to time and add sca's every 3 years and your good.  Every coolant, needs SCA s after 3 years.

If you do think about switching to another style, don't just drain it, flush it and flush it good with water.  I have seen some nasty stuff happen which I really don't understand mixing different types of antifreeze.
