Kentucky AG urging credit card companies not to track gun and ammunition sales

This has not been getting much light, but does bother me as it will not do anything beneficial because criminals don't use credit cards to buy stolen guns anyway,,,,just another push for gun control.

Here in Texas, I have been told some gun shops have signs near the checkout encouraging customers to pay with cash, or check, as CC companies may track a purchase with a CC.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

It gives me that tingly hair feeling on the back of my neck because I believe it's designed to create a database and discourage online trading.  Don't underestimate the ingenuity of the younger generation though, they will happily go to bitcoin or other new fangled payment methods I don't understand.  You just loose the protections that credit cards give.

While I figure it ain't gonna change much,,I plan to go talk to one of the people that make decisions at my bank of 46 years and let him how I feel about my bank agreeing with such BChit!! against the 2nd amendment.  Pending what he tells me is whether I stay there or move everything to another bank that does not agree. Lots of folks around here are furious about this and all plan to talk with their banks to let em know. May not change a thing but at least they will know how folks feel, so they can relay to the CC companies.
I expect most will just use cash but a man ought not have to do such to get around Bchit rules. That's all.

Pay for guns with cash, no problem then.

I bought two new toys a couple of weeks back, the store owner was busy installing a ATM so people could pay cash for their new toys.  One guy complained about the ATM fee, store owner said the fee was less than he had to charge if people used a credit card. Store owners biggest fear  was that the ATM  only carried $500.00 and that would not buy many toys.

A lot of ATM withdrawals are limited to $200-$300 too.  Hmm....Best just to spread the word to carry cash with you when toy shopping.  Might keep you on budget too!

Budget and guns in the same sentence? Avoid the fee, carry your wife’s checkbook!

Doesn't that tracking business vary by state?

I thought that in good ole Illinoise,  all were tracked period.

Bothers me a lot. I try to pay larger purchases with cash or check as often as possible. Credit card companies have easy access to check as to what I buy, none of their business. Gas, small vehicle repairs, groceries, misc purchases on CC.

Friend who has gun stor has always been CASH ONLY - says it stops headache of bad checks and also of tracking of credit card users .
Then you wonder what IDIOT would buy a gun , fill out a purchase form , have background check run and then try to bounce a check - when you know your history is in posession of the guy you try to stiff .
