Hi all I'm new to this form I just inherited an I-40 from my grandpa hasn't been used for many many years needs a lot of TLC but been messing around with it using the backhoe and all of a sudden now it just stalls I reach over start it right back up use it for 20 seconds it stalls sometimes it'll sit on high idle install start it right back up any help would be awesome

floating 'krap' in the gas tank !! unless you pulled tank and super cleaned it and all the lines/filters,etc.....
My D-14 'old reliable' stopped dead one day even WITH a full tank of gas..
...finally found a thin 'sliver' of yellow plastic IN the threaded input 'tube' section of the sediment bowl !!
The 'Light bulb' came on 2 hrs later....it's a piece of the yellow  plastic gas can nozzle.....
no idea how LONG it'd been in the tank....

Should still have a sediment bowl at tank outlet, pull the bowl then the plastic screen above it (Press fit into housing), was where I had issues on my 180 and DocAllis led me to.

Ok thanks all I'll try that today. I was thinking it had something to do with the hydraulic valves at the backend because sometimes if I more the lever back and forth it revs up again.
