Is this U something special? Look at the narrow track of the front axle.

It's a little hard to tell with the small pics, but I think it's a UN (narrow).  With the low rake of the steering, I think it could also be an orchard U.  Nice find either way!

Probaly  a industrial U of some sort,  looks like it has individual rear wheel brakes also.

According to C H Wendell's book, they made a UN that has the same axle as the above picture, with the exception, it had hard rubber narrow tires front and rear  with a leaf spring in front of the axle. I would say that is either a variation or an alteration.  Dave.

That looks suspiciously like a John Deere BR front axle. Hubcaps are JD.

I agree with you phil, It looks very close to a BR but look at the stabilizer bar. THe BR bolts through the axle and the AC U bolt under it.

Split: Look close at the rear hub picture and you will see orange paint. For those who have the C H Wendel book, look at page 301 lower left corner.

You're right Dave, the one in Wendel's book has the same axle.  That tractor would have been a "white knuckle drive" in road gear on those skinny wheels!!LOL

Looks the same less the spring.

Well, I went ahead and bought it. Thought I was going to get lucky and get it delivered about half way home but that fell through because of the location.  I am going to pick it up sometime before the end of December in North CA, about 1700 miles one way.

OK, don't leave us unfortunates out in the cold. We need pics of what this would look like with all of its' parts installed.

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

Probably a long shot but does anyone here know where I might find a set of the narrow solid rubber disc wheels like the picture listed in Wendells book?

I have never seen a set for sale. Seen very few tractors with them installed. But don't stop looking, they are probably not far away from you. This makes me think of the time when Larry Swenson got a call that a guy found 5 "A" Allis Chalmers on a abandoned Wheat Farm. The last serial no. "A" was in the bunch. And I own one of them now,but not the last one.
