I've got a new-to-me 180. I was mowing hay last night and the PTO seemed to slip when I first started, but then I was able to mow the rest with no issue. Anybody know if it has a clutch? If so, how do I adjust it?

This is assuming you have the OPTIONAL hydraulic PTO ?? The PTO lever must be straight up with the lever almost touching the hood when fully engaged ?? If the lever is fully forward and the PTO slips, there is either a low oil pressure issue or the PTO clutch has internal issues. The foot clutch could be slipping and if that is the case standing hard on the brakes would make the tractor stop moving, which would then tell you it isn't the PTO clutch, it's the foot clutch.

adjust ? nothing except hydraulic pressure. IF you have the hyd pto option - you can put it in or ot of gear w/o depressing the foot clutch. IF it grinds - you have the mechanical PTO which was std equip. I would suspect you had some oil on the foot cutch and after a bit it burnt off and would then hold. Do the test as Doc sez - at just off idle , in fourth gear with the power director in neutral , pull back and see if it kills the engine. Do the same in high range - push the lever forward again it should kill the motor dead immediately. Then put it in high range with the clutch pushed in and at about 1500 rpm let out on the foot clutch - again should kill the engine and the PTO .
