Bought a 20ft 300 series head last fall for my new to me R52 in the middle of bean harvest. Head was working alright but i was constantly fighting issues plugging the feeder house and getting green stemmed beans wrapped around the right side of the drum. Quickly figured out this head was set for a R62/72 and not a 52 like i was told,  Fast forward 7 months and i finally remembered i never did fix the header issue for wheat. Called a local Gleaner dealer today and of course the young parts guy doesn't know what i'm talking about. The only manual i have for the head appears to be for an L or M and is no help. Agco parts book just lists everything as extensions and doesn't say whats needed.

So can anybody help me out here? Mainly need to know how many fingers i need to remove, and what flighting/fairing extensions i need if or if i need them at all.

Lot of lookers but no answers. I have none either. Take Mack,Doc, or Tbran to answer this? I would guess if one side of feeder is working make the other like it. Sounds like your opening in head is too wide for feeder house.

Can’t remember if there is a bulletin on that or not. I can look when I get back to the store

I would say that you will need some flighting for the auger and the removal of two or three fingers. Back in the N6 days, there were tin covers that bolted in the head opening that brought the crop in past the outside feeder house chains. That made for a big difference as to the machine not plugging up. With that in mind, I would bring the flighting in maybe 6 or 8 inches past the combine opening. You could always cut it off, but it is hard to add. Best of luck.

items 22 thru 26 plus covers where you will pull out all fingers that are trying to stuff crop into a place where there is no opening.   Close the throat with 24 and the other is flighting extension and floor extensions.  It is a little more specific on the 500 series parts diagram.
