My son went to retrieve a spare wagon on my XT. He brought the wagon which we switched out with the full one. I proceeded to pull it down the road to our farm. She was low on power, virtually no smoke. I thought the turbo had went out or was having a pump issue. Everything on the engine looked fine. Got back to the farm really low on power. Thinking the worst I shut her down. As it turned out I noticed as I shut the fuel off I didn’t push it as far as normal. And then it hit me, he didn’t pull the fuel knob out all the way! Can’t be that simple right? Fired her up and she was back to normal. Man what a relief, scared the crap out of me. The fuel shutoff on the Roosa pump does simply close down the metering valve part way when not all the way to run. It can simply cut down the fuel delivery. It is exactly what the adjustment of the torque screw does. we adjust the fuel delivery down to our desired setting when on the stand. ------------- 210 "too hot to farm" puller, part of the "insane pumpkin posse". | Back in the day (1977-78) we had an issue with the fuel shut off knob working itself inward while operating the tractor. There was a service bulletin to disconnect the shut off cable wire end, pull the knob out six inches and put a kink in the wire and reinstall. They had changed vendors on the shut-off cable and it had too little friction to keep itself pulled out, so we had to create drag on the wire. |

Wanted to post this so others could see what happens when full fuel isn’t applied to the pump. It has never happened before because myself or my brothers run my XT. My son has ran it also but not as much. When I told him what happened he said dad, this is your baby, I guess I didn’t want to pull too hard so I wouldn’t damage anything. Lol, he knows how much I love my XT!! The fuel shut off works as it should, I guess I am proud my son for wanting to make sure he didn’t damage anything.
