| I have a 6 foot Loftness snowblower on my Allis D-17. I'm a hobby farmer without much experience in these things, so am always looking for advice. My uncle has had D-17s since the early '60s. He says my blower is too heavy for the tractor and could end up breaking one of the 3 pt arms. I have no idea about how much my blower weighs. It's an older blower, and looks pretty heavy duty. Is there a particular brand of blower I should use with my D-17? Last thing I need is to break a 3 pt arm. I see that Northern Tool sells a 6 foot NorTrac blower that weighs over 700 pounds. Is that too much weight for a blower on a D17? |

Not having seen either your blower, or your tractor, Its hard to diagnose from afar. Hows about more info? | If it is a series 4 D-17, the hitch ruggedness is the same as a 190XT, so I think your Uncle is wrong. You might need some front end weight ? You could have a HP issue but that is remedied by less than 6 ft cuts or holding the blower off the ground for a ways and then taking a second swipe. |

We have had a 6ft Loftness blower on D17's since 1988 and have had no problems. Its been on 2 series 1's and currently is on a series3 so its a aftermarket / homemade 3 point not factory. | I agree with the others. Nothing to worry about. I have a 6ft other brand(brand name I forgot but popular) on my 45 with modified aftermarket 3pt. little light on the front with 2 F&H rear wheel weights mounted on the front but no issues for many years. |
