What price have you seen on these tillers? I know condition is a big issue. Looking for a better than average tiller. Is $1,000 a reasonable number?

Paid $800 for mine and it’s in very good condition. That’s been 8-10 years ago so I would say $1,000 is in line. they do a terrific job.

They do a terrific job making a ultra-fine seed bed, but they do NOT till very deep if that's what you like to do.
My old Montgomery Ward front-tine tills deeper than my Allis tiller on my 720, and I have the skids removed from my Allis tiller.

Paid 800.00 for mine some years ago. Not real good condition. Seems like more are available now.

I think the tillers bear more value in the AC collector crowd, than say, someone locally shopping for a 2000rpm implement of any brand. I have not had an Allis branded tiller for the Powermaxes, but have sold several Simplicity branded ones, in excellent shape. $700 is all I could squeeze out on my best sale, and not once did one go to a Simplicity or Allis user. I personally have never invested over $500 in one, but I patiently wait for bargains. I have seen them cheaper to sellers who just weren't aware of what they had.
I have noticed used implement prices have risen sharply in the last 18 months though. Right now would be a great time to shoot for a grand for a tiller, if you are prepared to field all the questions from folks asking if it will work on their 540PTO (even if you state in the ad that it wont).

I have a 2000rpm Sears & Roebuck tiller that I'd let go for $750. Far heavier than the Allis version.

That is very interesting. I am familiar with the Sears 48”, and always thought it to be a touch lighter duty than the Simplicity. The overall dimensions appear a bit smaller.

That would surprise me because the Ac/Simplicity is built heavy duty. I would like to see some close up pictures of the other tiller.

Though, now that I look at it, I don't think I could let it go for $750. Especially with inflation these days. It would be too handy to have the day that a chain breaks on my Allis tiller.

That's a really nice looking tiller Gerald. It appears to me to have some similarities to my Mott flail mower as far as structure. I've not seen one of the Sears tillers before. Only the Simplicity/Allis, Ford, Wheel Horse, Deere & Deutz branded ones. Is that 48" as well?I bought mine a few years ago for $600 from Josh. Immediately sold my other for $500 that was a NOS Deutz branded 40" Cat-0 to a neighbor of Josh's per say. So I guess I returned Josh's pallet & ratchet strap by default...
