you sound just like pawpaw! When he "retired" from farming at 63, Nana became the farm boss. Week or two later he said "I should've fired her before I retired".

Shameless, you are making me scared here! I am planning to retire in a little over a month, but you have me wondering if that's a good idea or not. I may get more rest if I keep going to work. The wife has been hinting at a couple of small projects, but right now she knows the paying jobs take precedence over the other stuff. Not sure how much longer I can get away with that if I am retired!

Dad retired from farming at about 70 yrs. of age then from his repair / fab shop a little later. He put a sign up at the end of the drive saying that he had retired and the shop was closed. After about a month the sign disappeared one day and the shop operated at some level till he was almost 90 yrs old. Maybe a little because of mom, he really liked his work and he didn't have enough other things to keep him busy enough. He missed visiting with the customers too which may have had more to do with it than any thing else.

I retired 5 years ago. Went back driving full time for my brother for a about 3 years because I was bored. You can only fish so much, then camp for so much and it gets boring again. But I never get bored when working with the tractor, hmmm.

Shameless. I need a part time hired man here just to keep up. Lucky to have 3 sons that come and help once in a while. Granddaughter and grandson that stays with me are sometimes good help. Like today, last week, I advertised the motor home for sale . Since the old gal passed I havn't been in it. I went to town to buy a new battery this afternoon. When i got home the granddaughter had drug out a drop cord and the big shop vac and vaccumed up the dead fly's. Man and wife will be here at 2 o'clock to look at it.

Dale, you NEED to make up a 'Honey do List' for HER... Stop and think about this,,,,,,,WHAT do you need HER to be doing?? If you come up with some jobs that you KNOW she's NOT going to like.....THEN she'll stay away from you and not hint at anything she wants you to do. Trust me,,,,,I know!! Jeanne pretty much leaves me alone now... All I have to do is ask her to help me with this.,....and then do this..... I don't see much of her now. She'll lock herself in the bedroom and just kind of ignore me now. Cept for doing dishes....

I tell everyone, when I retired, I realized I liked my old boss better than my new boss!

HMMmmm,,that age old saying,,,"I don't know HOW I ever found time to go to work" is so very true but there IS a lot of truth in it,,,,,,,,It is better to stay busy,,,keeps the Honey Do requests to a minimum,,,,,
