i have a 73 185 that needs front tires what size should they be ? my 190 has 7.50-16 but 1 think the 185 has 15 inch wheels but they are alot wider than the 190 .the tires are so old and worn that i cant read the size does 9.5-15 seem right ? i want to keep a wide tri rib front tire on it. what sizes are you guys running ?? as always thanks in advance ...Jb

Measure the outside diameter of the tire and the width at the widest point. Maybe the rim width too. The look up the Goodyear Farm Tire handbook or the Firestone Farm Tire handbook and see which ones match your tires. We can only guess, I put 11L-16 on a MF-135 but those were wagon tires, lousy for steering in dirt. But they held up the front end with loader nicely. I moved loader and those tires to a JD4020 but the poor steering got to me while rotary hoeing, so I changed to 4 rib 11.00-16, not low profile. The are TALL. Picture at http://www.geraldj.networkiowa.com/images/leftside.jpg The rears in that picture are 12.4 -42, no taller than the factory 18.4-34 but narrower for happier crops after spraying. The front rims are 8" wide.

i like the looks of the three rid 11:00s on the front of the 170-210s. tractorhouse has a 175 for sale with 11:00s on the front you can ck out .do a youtube search

"185 allis chalmers" and you will see a dualled 185 pulling riper w/11:00s on the front.i would not put anything smaller than 10:00s on the front though.let us know what you get and post a pic please. hm

My 180 had 7.50 truck tires on front and 18.4x28 on rear. I put 10.00X16 on front and then front was running high, I put 16.9X34 on rear and now it sits level. The bigger rubber makes it a lot nicer in the woodlot for gathering maple sap to make syrup. I had to turn the front wheels inside out for the bigger tires. I have about 600 lbs. weight hanging on the front end to keep it down with a 200 gallon milk tank on the 3 PH to gather the sap.

so how about your opinion ... 3 rib or 4 rib this is our everyday tractor we use it for planting, light tillage, pulling wagons, bush hog, mowing hay etc, etc. do you have a preference? ....Jb

I like the four rib better than the three. At least a couple of the ribs hit the ground on the 4 rib, but only the center rib hits on the 3 rib most of the time. So there are more edges to turn corner in dirt with the 4 rib.

My father's 185 had 9.5L-15 three rib tires on it when new. In fact, the front left is still an original tire. You can see it's a lot more worn then the front right. I don't like the looks of the four rib tires, but I believe the other post that say they work better for turning in soft ground. Anyway here is a video of my father on his 185 with that tire size on it, so you can see how they look.

I just got a 185 with 1375 actual hours so I assume the tires are original cause they are getting rotten, they are 9.5L 15s. maybe this helps.
