Hydraulic oil bucket? How about diesel? I need a couple new cans. A guy at work threw scrap in my truck today and stuck a nail through one of my cans. |

5 gallon bucket would work... I have a couple 3 gallon plastic jugs that they use to ship Roundup or some type of spray to the local farms.. That was 20 years ago.. I still use them. ........... Gas cans suppose to be RED.. so dont share with anyone, and MARK the bucket if you do it.
5 gallons is a little heavy or large for some jobs... 3 gallons works better for me. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

I scour yard sales for the old chilton or craftsman 5 gallon cans. These are the orange/red cans that have a yellow spout and a yellow breather. Be sure to check the spout for dry rot/sun cracks. I wouldn't go anywhere the new cans, with the algore no flow spouts. You might get a year or 2 out of Hyd/oil buckets, but the spouts collect dirt and water, if you leave the spout folded in. I would try and find a good Jerry fuel can, I had one until I run over it, it was the best gas can ever. |

I put some empty DEF 2.5 gallon jugs out for free when we had a garage sale. They all went in minutes. I have a neighbor, that I plow his driveway and mow part of his yard. Last spring, two 5 gallon cans full of diesel fuel appeared in front of my garage. I absolutely love the cans. There is no need to use a funnel and no spilled fuel. They work great for fueling tractors; no fuel spilled on the paint. google racing fuel cans. That is the style I like and they don't have the impossible nozzles on then. Cans (plastic) are available with no decals and in red at say like TSC. I cant (CRS) remember where I picked my red one at. You can add the dispensing hose to your liking from the plastic fitting section.  |

| I have used 5 gal buckets that had oil in them before they where plastic. The new plastic works just not as long other types. But once you put gas in them, even empty they will blow up from the fumes expanding. So I store with the cap just sitting on them. I have bulk tanks on the farm, but at times it has been way cheaper in town than delivered to the country. So have filled oil buckets in town. Around here there are some that get upset with you as it is not government approved. |

The last few years I've gone to using old 2.5 gal plastic jugs and a funnel to move fuel. Kind of off but I got a couple small tanks at auction with hand pumps, only hold 35 gallons so no farmer wanted them, pretty cheap with a pump. Have them on pallets, load with skid steer, fill in town and put inside when I get home, out of the elements. ------------- 1945 C, 1949 WF and WD, 1981 185, 1982 8030, unknown D14(nonrunner) |

| Metal jerry cans are only 45 dollars at harbor freight they do have the pea require spouts but you can get a 6 pack of exposure spout for 25 dollar. Put one on each of you plastic cans with the horrible gov spout. I do have k1 in a can lookalikes oil bucket except it's metal I only use a pump in it I think oil cans pour horrible. I also bough a electric pump for gas cans just put it inplace of the spout set the can on the tractor and push the button it shuts off when it senses the garden tractor is full. 4 AA batteries last a long time. |
