Dayum, my old fingers always cause me to stop pushing snow and run in the house to get the numbness out of my fingers. Been thinking about investing in a pair of heated gloves. At 100 bucks I hate to make a mistake. Any suggestion from experience out there?

try the cotton gloves + MITTS combination ! I find it works better than GOOD winter gloves. Have heated gloves, broke the wire to battery box, went back to cotton gloves and mitts 2 years ago.

I try not to go out when it's that cold but when I had to, I would use those inside the glove hand warmers, put one in each glove and a spare set, one in each front shirt pocket. When the glove ones quit working I swap them out, let the glove ones rejuvenate in my shirt pockets.

I have a pair of electric gloves, they work good. They are rechargeable.

I discovered something recently, by wearing those latex or plastic gloves under my leather gloves my hands stay much warmer. All those years farming with crawlers, no cab, freezing in the East wind that blows the San Juaquin Tule fog up on the Temblor Mountains, taking my gloves off and putting them over the exhaust stack to warm them and then freeze some more. I wish I had know that then.

I use "Wells-Lamont" brown jersey gloves inside of "Tilman" tig welding, or winter gloves and stay quite warm for extended periods.
I've had frostbitten toes and fingers on both feet and hands and it really lets you know when time for a break. Within a two minute span usually I'm fairly comfortable to almost bellyaching in pain.
Had battery powered heated socks once and they worked well with rechargeable batteries but they ceased working with age. Never replaced them but may yet.

Tad, will try that the next time out to push snow.
D19, can you give me a reference on the rechargeable ones that work for you?
Thanx Dave

I put a cab on my snow tractor. The engine heats it. I can take off my gloves and open up my outer layer. Sucks when I gotta get out and walk to the house!!!

I have some "Sky Genius" heated gloves. Work real well. Think they are ski gloves, kind of bulky but running a machine they are good. I think they were about $100.
My hands can't take the cold anymore, I have to have something along these lines when it is real cold out.

Funny thing, you guys get real weather, way below zero, snow, ice, sleet, here in central CA we haven't even got a hard freeze this winter but I can tell you with the wind blowing a gale of very wet fog @ 2000 feet ASL, the temp is well above freezing, but the wind and fog go right through all the clothes you can put on. I have seen it freeze in these conditions and had icicles that stand almost straight out from the fences but I bet you guys have seen a bunch more than that. The thing that helped the most were canvases along the engine but only if you had a puller fan.

Back when I run a D8 dozer on the dirt crew I used mitts and the liners that were made for the mitts and you could make a fist with them on and could be be out in the cold for three or four hrs before having to warm them up on the exhaust, we run year around with the exception rain, bad snow or a temperature of minus 10, wind chill wasn't taken into consideration, I remember when they got a heathouser for the old girl I would be without the mitts and coat after about 1hr of working her hard yep the good old days.

when i worked for a propane co, they had a sales magazine with all kinds of propane related items in it, in there was a pair of gloves for delivery people that said they would keep your hands warm even if drenched in the propane. the boss got me a pair and they were the warmest gloves i've ever worn. i used them when cutting wood and other outside activities (snowmobiling) and my hands never got cold. they appear to have plastic on the outside but it never tore or cracked. ask your propane supplier to look. they were not mittens.

I never used to get cold hands.I would wear the yellow cotton chore gloves all winter. If they got wet I would warm them on the muffler of the D17 or whatever tractor we were using. Now my hands get cold and I have stop and get them warm or I can't do anything. I have found these mittens that are the only thing that can keep my fingers warm. https://kinco.com/product/1927kwt/" rel="nofollow - https://kinco.com/product/1927kwt/

I have a pair that I've had for several years. I had to replace the batteries this year (~$40 from Amazon). They work pretty well, but I agree with Kenny L. Nothing beats the good old mitten/liner combo.
