if the dogs aren't afraid and they will come up to you, just put a tag on them that says:

 "I've been a bad dog.  Please keep me on my own property". 

Had a truck driver say one time that the 2 most precious things to a man is his dog and his mailbox, hit either one and you'll find out!

My dogs don't run loose but I do let them out of the fenced area every morning to do dog stuff.  They know the property line and pretty much adhere to it.  Now I will let the big dog out during the day, he will sit and watch squirrels in the neighbors yard very intently but won't move unless it crosses the road into our yard then all bets are off.  I think he'd chase him to hell and back if the squirrel could outrun him that far.  So far 30 yards is about all it takes him.

Teaching dogs boundaries has to start early, probably too late for those two.

Now multiple homes have been built and people expect dogs and other pets to remain within property boundaries. My neighbors across the road who have lived there many years have always had dogs, they roam free. I have no issue with them, in fact I love those dogs, feed them biscuits every day. They are a pair of black Labs, both female, one young and one old. The young one respects her elder and always let's her first in line for their biscuits. I really enjoy watching them and their routine.

Now, with more neighbors and people who moved from the city they may not like the fact these dogs having the freedom to move about. I feel differently as these dogs aren't destructive or mean, their bark is for sure worse than their bite. We have no Animal Control available, in the past I have taken stray dogs to a facility in town. Also have taken in a few strays, turned out to be wonderful pets.

On the other hand, if these dogs were aggressive or a threat to others I would feel differently, the owner would need to be found and something done to protect others. 

 As long as a dog is friendly, they are welcome on my property. That's just my take.

We had a friend who was a mechanic.  Loaned him a AC electric fence unit, real old, the kind that had a screw in Bus fuse, like the old fuse boxes used.  He had bought some boxwoods from us, over the years, lived in town, hadda problem with neighbor's town dog coming by and lifting a leg on his boxwoods.  Anyway, he set it up, wire around the shrubs, but the fuse was blown in that old fencer, so he replaced it with a hunnert watt light bulb!  Said the dog pissed on the wire, and just kinda stood there like he was froze in time!  It seems that in replacing the fuse with the light bulb, he had done the equivalent of deleting the fuse!  Anyway, he turned the fencer off, removed it, returned it, and moved the dog to the premises of another neighbor he didn't like... When they found it, someone asked why it looked like it was peeing?

Any owner of a dog with the 'he can go anywhere attitude' is NOT a dog lover.

ask again nicely, please keep your dogs off my property, if he gives you a hard time, get a paintball gun, pop a couple at the dogs,various random colors,stings but NOT lethal. he 'might' get the hint.

up here, 'animal control' will pickup unleashed dogs,goto SPCA, no tag or chip, unclaimed they get resold or put down. Maybe ask local 'pound' what the routine is where you are ?

if you're allowed to hunt on your property, kindly remind him that  hunters will be on your land and you'd feel bad if an accident occoured. It's NOtTthe dogs fault , it's the idiot owner.

  We had a pack of dogs awhile back killing deer, not eating them just killing, lots of carnage till hunted down.    They were several neighbors dogs that were home during day, nice and obedient, but at night...

   Packs of dogs have attacked and killed several people, wolves have never done that except when sick and diseased and that is extremely rare.

  Two dogs are a pack, I would call DNR.

By all means, tell your neighbor to get some wolves, that will solve the problem,

cheap ,smelly , $store perfume in a water pistol works GREAT to deal with 'bad dogs'.

Their sniffer is out of action for hours to 2-3 days....

   Pointing out that dogs are way worse then wolves, many dog lovers think their dogs can do no wrong.

Brother was pretty ill tempered anyway especially when he wasn't awaked yet.

Not sure what he did but it didn't happen anymore after about a week and a half.

  Well, I've had mixed results with them dogs at large out here and there is never a good result when owners let their dogs run loose on other's property.

 I used to have a big German Shephard that got out of fenced yard ONE time and ran towards the neighbor's fence where he had some goats and he shot the dog,,then had the nerve to call me to come get my dog to bury it. I asked him WHY he had shot it and the AH says,,,"I figured your dog was gonna get inside the fence and kill my goats" I told him that since he shot it, he could bury it,,AND told him if any of his animals including himself, ever came onto my property,,I was going to shoot them Including HIM!!

 Well,, guess what,,his goats got out after that and as soon as one got on my property, I gathered it up in the trk and drove it bout 10 miles up the road where I knew the people had a bunch of mean azzed DOGS,,,,and turned that filthy goat loose with them dogs,,,,,

 Didn't take long,,,,,,

 The other time the neighbor across the street got a mongrel that he would let loose after dark and raise ruckus with ole Hungry cause ole Hungry was inside His fence and wanting out. I went across and asked him nice to keep his dog in his yard and he never would say much. Well, I finally called County Animal Control and they came and picked the dog up  and it cost the neighbor $38 to get it out,,,,BUT,,,BUT,,,the friggin neighbor turned the dog loose again that night!!! So I again called Animal Control and that time that took the dog to main pound in Carlsbad ( bout 40 miles south of us),,,,never seen the friggin dog after that,,,,,,, problem solved.

 More'n one way to skin a cat, besides,,,,,,,

 Usually 1 will stay home, 2 or more you got a pack and packs roam.  

I had a neighbor with a poorly-behaved black lab that cared for no boundaries.  He was over one day and I mentioned that he should not let it run free, on account of my outdoor cats, particularly my primary feller Simon.

His answer was "Oh, no worries there-  we trained him to kill cats".

Suit yourself...

About a week later, that dog decided he was gonna make an impression on Simon.

Simon sent him home without an eye.

Neighbor called me about it... I reminded him about our prior discussion, and advised that Simon was being generous-  he let him keep one eye.

I guess I should've warned the neighbor that Simon was really good at killing raccoons...

I've never understood the 'bring my dog anywhere,let him run free there' attitude.

Guy shows up next door, when I owned it, with dog in truck, goes to let him out.

I said 'keep your dog In the truck...my property, my rules and BTW MY cats will PROTECT their property'. He thought I was kidding,til I called out the name of one, and he came, sat beside me.I then said he's fully armed ....

Nuther guy does the same(why do guys bring dogs with them....sigh)  This time my guard cats are inside... I say'2 things will happen if you let your dog out... either the coyotes will get him,he'll go after the rabid fox...' no he won't', door opens,he sees fox, guy finally finds his dog 1-2 hrs later

I ask guys when they bring their dogs, 'so when I visit your place, I can bring my cats,right ??
