What would a extremely nice 917 Hydro with hydraulic lift be worth these days? Went to look at this 917 Hydro this evening. Okay, his version of extremely nice and mine are different. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad tractor by no means, but the pictures were deceiving. Battery at some point had leaked and has taken some paint off the right side below the battery box. Hood was straight but had some under paint rust in 2 locations which really confused me being kept inside. Maybe being under a cover inside and a battery fuming may have caused it, it had also done the same thing under the hood. Battery tender cooking the battery is most likely. Deck is in very good condition, still has factory stickers on it. Series II Koehler so its the second generation which has the better engine oiling system. Started easily with choke pulled and ran well even though it was 25 degrees outside where he had pulled it on the carport yesterday for me to come see. Gentlemen was at work and the engine was cold as ice when I started it. So it wasn’t like it had just been started. Hydraulic lift worked well, mower deck was quiet. Seat plastic has split just like my 917 has so that wasn’t a surprise. Thanks Charlie, didn’t think to look there. I was thinking $700 last evening myself. He is asking $1,200 which I think is high. The deck on my 917 is pretty worn from mowing for 38 years. | hard so say. Sounds like it’s in good shape. You should try to add it to your fleet. We bought 916 for $800 few years ago. |

I passed on it Mike. My rule of thumb, if I don't have a shed for it I don’t buy it. Trust me I would love to have it, but I don’t like equipment setting outside. I presently have a SC 2 bottom plow, SC blade, and a 4 bottom 70 series plow sitting outside and makes me sick. Nice stuff and it needs to be inside. Also my 460 loader awaiting to be installed on my 160 tractor. I need to start a go fund me page lol. Right now its gonna be a little higher in the cost department with lumber the way it is. I guess it has come down a little, but still up there. I know what ya mean when you say it makes you sick that good stuff is outside and not at least under a lean to or shelter of some sort. I have the loader to my 620 sitting under a tarp that I restored a couple years ago. Already Mother Nature is beating up on it. I gotta' finish the 620 and get that on this summer.
