I've been looking to purchase a 20' shipping container.  Plan to build a roof over it with 10' lean-to roofs coming off each side.  Use it as a strong box to lock up a side-by-side, 4 wheelers, etc.  Store boat and implements, etc under the lean-to's.
Really struggling with all the Scammers and trying to determine who's legit and who's not.  Really want to see it in advance...these things range from "like new" to "oh that one must have fallen off the ship at some point".   Most sound Company I've found won't let you on the lot for safety reasons.  The more legit sounding companies want full payment upfront whereas the Scammers seem to just want a "small deposit".
Guessing someone on here has doubled down and taken the risk.
Thanks in advance.
Scott

Bought a couple out of Springfield. They were good condition. Great delivery guy. I’ll try to find their number.

A couple years ago I purchased a 20 ft long unit from AT and S in St. Louis. They were excellent and honest to work with, as me being new to the experience they let me check the units out in person. I purchased a single trip unit that was spotless inside and out and the paint was fresh looking. The multiple trip units weren't that much cheaper and they looked very rough. They delivered it 60 miles North of St. Louis on a specialty trailer for hauling and setting units. First class operation all the way and very happy with my purchase. Seem like I paid a tad over 4000 for unit, tax and delivery. Ive included their link below

they are around, just keep looking.   grease up your checkbook; they've went up!   anyone who won't let you lay eyes on the container; don't bother doing business with!

Tom, I tried to get my son to buy one with a reefer unit on it. We needed it to store beehives. Instead he bought a semi trailer with a reefer. It works well but is a pain in the butt to now around. I've looked at them, wouldn't mind having a plain one.

i didn't buy one because of the cost.   for what i wanted to do there were better options!  When i first started looking on the internet; i ran into exactly the senaro as above but the most I asked around; the more i learned.   the roof's are the weak spots.   If water sits on them, they rust thru.  Friend of mine uses a 20ton jack and a peice of oil well pipe and goes down the middle and actually pushes the roof up so that water drains off of them.
prices are double what they were, just a few years ago!

My youngest got ahold of what looks like the frame work of a 5th wheel camper. Just the steel framework. Don't know if it is homemade or what. 2-8k axles, 4x6 I-beam flooring.
Walls and roof are 1-1/2" angle iron 28' long not counting the overhang. Think I will cover it and have a storage shed. Big enough to put my skid steer in and mowing tractor and then some.

He got this for free.

i bought a 53' semi trailer, measured the height of the floor, dug a hole and backed it down in the hole, dropped the front on the ground, the wheels are still on it, use it for storage. i did slope the ground a tad to one side so water/snow would run off the roof. i also built some upper areas inside out of landscape timbers, holds long things and lumber up out of the way, doubles the storage inside.

Costs retailers shipping in Chicom goods close to a grand to return the empty CONEX boxes so many are returned to the dispatch yards and ignore the calls for payment due or a less than trustable export agent pays them 1/3 of value of return cost looking for export goods to place in the unit and ends up with stacks they cannot move either.

Give it about six months of loading up where by June the demand will be to get the damn things off their yards.  Prices will drop drastically.

Explore the different states and available options in the used shipping container market. Anything described as "used" may be worn out or relatively new. Even such a product can be tracked http://https://www.postsendungsverfolgung.com/de/dhl-sendungsverfolgung.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.postsendungsverfolgung.com/de/dhl-sendungsverfolgung.html ! If you are looking for an almost new container in appearance and condition, then a once-used container will suit you. Such containers are usually manufactured in Asia and used once for cargo shipping before the sale. They are often labeled as "new" or "almost new," but they will have a few scratches from their original flight. There are a lot of such ads!
