How is the wiring harness routed around the carburetor ? Are there clips next to the engine block ? Is the coil wire really wound under the thermostat housing ? Any pictures of all of this ?

I have a CA that is very similar.  There are 3 wires that come out under the gas tank:  1 for the generator, one for the headlights and one for the distributor.  They are in a piece of loom that runs behind the carb and gets secured in place with a clip that runs up from the back bolt on the generator mounting.  From there, the wires separate: 1 goes to the generator, one goes up over the rad to connect the headlights.  The last one goes around the thermostat housing and hooks up to the distributor.

Hope this helps, unfortunately I do not have any pictures.

I have four wires on mine. two to the generator, battery and field, ignition, and lights. One clip on the generator mount and another on the bottom of the thermostat housing that the ignition wire goes through.

On the B/C/CA, the wiring system ran out from the bottom of the instrument panel, under the tool box, behind the air cleaner (under the relief in the air cleaner bracket) behind the Carburetor to a harness bracket mounted on the Generator bracket to the block, up under the Thermostat housing and around the bend to the Mag or Distributor. With a 6V system, it usually was 4 wires as Lonn mentioned. But, like anything else mass produced, there were variations that's fir' sure!   HTH
