how many people here have a john deere like a 7400 it reminds me so much of the 8000 seires in allis-chalmers but john deere did buy all ACs pattens when they went out in 85

Uncle had a 7200, but I have never driven an 8000 series, so I can't comment on the similarities.  Seemed to be a good tractor while he had it.  I think he almost put 7000 hours on it, but he's one for taking care of equipment.  Be interested in hearing more about JD buying their patents when they went under.  That's the first I have ever heard of that.

we have a 7210, I personally don't see the similarities.  it's our mixer tractor and just rolled 10,000 untouched hours.  Has a big 6 cylinder set at around 100 hp, so should last forever.

I read somewhere that when Allis closed up in '85, some engineers that worked on the A-C 8000 tractors got jobs at John Deere. We had a JD 7800 and there sure were a lot of similarities  with the A-C  and JD cabs.

I'm sure a company as big as john deere buys thousands of patents a year. Doesn't mean their tractor is an allis design.

After my 8000 series tractors(8030 mfd & 8010) had occred high hours on them I started looking for a replacement, with Allis-Chalmers gone and Duetz looking like a twenty year old styling in the cab having you reach all around for the controls I decided to look at other companies. The 7000 & 7010 series Deeres were what I was looking for,a median lenght frame, big cubic inch engine, mfd and a large roomy cab with two large doors and all the cotrols on a right hand consol. They became the perfect replacement for me and after owning a 7800mfd,7810mfd,7610, and7405mfd I must say theyhave been reliable and have held their resale value. I will always be an Allis-Chalmers fan at heart but love the 7000 series John Deeres for making a excelent replacement for my 8000 series Allis's
