I attended a program this morning at our local school, one thing really touched me, they had 5 pre-school children gather in a circle with a microphone and lead the group in the pledge allegiance to the flag. I remember doing this every morning when I went to country school as a kid. I think it's great to see young children being taught something about patriotism

Most people sleep peacefully in their homes, because rough and FEARLESS men fought and died, so they COULD sleep peacefully.
May PEACE be with all those And THEIR families,,,,,,,,,,AMEN.

neighbour down the road is 98, last living vet I know of.... what occoured to me today, the 12th, is that Goggle didn't have the single red poppy on their cdn webpage, or the american one, something they did in previous years. today though ,they have some fancy 'celebration of someone ' though. sad really. then again, odds are nobody at google lost their dad in a war, maybe not even their granddad ,so the 'value' of 11/11 is lost to them ?

It seems like Veteran's Day and Veterans have been talked about a lot more this year. I'm a Veteran but don't feel like one. I joined the National Guard in early May 1960, before I was 18-1/2, it was a 4 year sign-up with 6 months active duty. The only really thing that I did was helped setup the 105 millimeter guns, and fire the Salute for President Kennedy, at Noon, at our State Capital, after he was assassinated.
