I am working on a 1963 H3 that sat outside and has not run in 10 years.  Both steering clutches are stuck.  I have disassembled one and it has the bi-metal driving discs.  Can I sand the rust from these and reuse them?  The dozer will be used about 2 hours a month and it will be stored inside.  Randy

Not worth the effort IMHO. Tracy

I have used a wire cup brush on angle head grinder to clean ones from a Cat. Worked fine. So I see no reason it would not work on yours.

If the drive teeth are showing ware probably better to just get new. General Gear seems to have after market clutch plates for just about all crawlers.

Do the discs meet minimum thickness specs?

I would say it all depends on how rusty they are...some are far worse than others. If minor, I would try sanding them...that's IF they are thick enough...half worn out you might as well just get the new ones from General Gear in Boise Idaho...they'll fix you up with new steels and metallic discs and they'll last a long time...just my opinion...Rick

X 2 on the General Gear Boise Idaho recommendation.
