Here's a link to an open class NO speed limit. I'm still working out my new ride, The 1650 Oliver. When I can get it smoking like Bill Grime's Either Eater I'll have a ride. Currently I have the stock VE pump and have it tweaked all it will do without spending big bucks, I'll do that with a P Pump.

5500 pound class actual ground speed was near to 20 MPH

20 MPH and a narrow front end ??? What insurance company covers classes like that ??

The Fair board covers all of the insurance for all events at the fairgrounds.

In the 50+ years I've been pulling I see those that have curved pipes pointed toward the grandstands as a more serious liability risk than going fast with a narrow front. All it takes is a piece of hot carbon to land in someone's lap to have a major lawsuit. Most every club I've ever pulled with has a written rule "No Curved Exhaust Pipes". This has been a rule ever since NTPA was first formed. Yet when this is mentioned to officials they just shrug their shoulders and say something like "Oh he's so & so"

I've had twin engine a modified that would go faster and had a narrow front. Real pulling doesn't have speed limits.

No argument about the curved pipes. I've spit an exhaust wheel or two over the years before cross-bolts were required and lucky no one got hit. I'm glad you had a twin engine chassis with a narrow front end and lived to tell about it. Narrow fronts aren't as safe as a wide front and that's just the way it is. There was a very recent wreck that is on u-tube of a Minnie-Mo that upset going down the track. The roll cage saved him for sure and the wide front helped the cage. Safety rules are good.
