With the muddy conditions, I'm suprized not to see some folks with their woodenshoes on. I have a pair I bought in Holland, Michigan when we lived in South Holland, Illinois 50 years ago.

I had no idea that Allis had such a presence in your part of the world. I knew AC was there, but not to that extent.

Clovis: Allis-Chalmers was sold new here till the beginning of the 60's to the dealers that we've had here. The importer at that time was Louis Reynders in Amsterdam. After that  there are some other companies who where the importer of A-C but it wasn't more successful. Tha last Allis-Chalmers tractor who sold new here in Netherlands where 7 units of the 7580 tractors. All the tractors send back to the USA or Canada when it was not succesfull here. The last 7580 was at this Allis-Chalmers show in 1995, a few years later it was back to the USA. Until the mid-year 1950 U.S. tractors are very modern and if you was a farmer could buy an American tractor, he had respect and status. Then came more European brands on rise, mostly from Germany but also English and French tractors. These were better and more modern for there time and were also cheaper as the Americans. That was the reason why most American tractors are no longer sold. Like Allis-Chalmers but also Oliver, Minneapolis, Massey-Harris and Farmall for example. Not all the A-C's you see here are original sold new here. Tractors who sold new here to farmers are models like the G, B, C and CA,  U, WC, WD and WD45 as also a some WD45 diesels and the European ED-40, B, D270 and D272 and FD3,4 and 5. 

 

Al the models as my 190XT, a 200, D21, Two-Twenty , D17 and D19 and all the other tractors from after the 60's are imported by collectors. As also some unstyled WC, U's ,WD45 and WD45diesels.

 

The onlyest American tractors that you can still buy new here are JD, Case IH, New-Holland and Massey's.

Of the tractors that were sold in the Netherlands into the 1960's, were many of them built in Europe? Did most of them come from the US?

Where do you find parts? Parts can be difficult to find here, and I cannot imagine having to find parts for an antique AC in the Netherlands.

What are the most common antique American tractors? Farmall?

BTW, what do you call your Allis event? I'd love to see how you spell it in Dutch too.

The A-C's which where sold new are all American built and then shipped to the Netherlands just like they do today the same with cars for example. But some one where assembled in the U.K. We've had an original American U that sold new here in 1946 but was assembled in the U.K. Probaly at the factory in Essendine where also the English B, D270, D272 and the ED40 where made.

 

To find parts is increasingly difficult. Earlier you had several scrapyards and even with former dealers you could find parts. That's all gone now. Junkyards are also become more rare because of the stringent environmental requirements and the law. There are some company's who sell new or good parts for tractors but the imported all out of the USA. Or otherwise you must by you're own order parts in the USA.

 

The most common American tractors for collectors here are Farmall's ( H, M, MTA, 300 and 400 and also 706, 806, 856, 1456) and also a lot of John-Deere. Most of them are the A, B, D, at also 3020 and 4020. about 5 or 6 6030's are also here in the Netherlands. Also Ford is a populair tractor for tractor pulling. You see here a lot of Ford 9600's and 9000. Almost all prepared for tractorpulling. To find an original 9600 is hard.

 

Tractors from the Agco company you see here are MF, Fendt and Valtra. But not an Agco or White. It's never sold here. Most popular tractors here are the European build New-Hollands and also the German John-Deere's. Fendt and Claas are also good selling tractors. The rare'st modern tractors here are more the Italian one's like a Same and Lamborghini.

 

The most common tractors are the 90 to 140 hp tractors for farmers. Contractors has tractors that goes to 300 hp and more. Today, many brands work to maximize power from an minimize engine as possible for economic. Now you have here tractors with a 4 cyl engine that produces 140hp. The Finnish brand Valtra what's sitting under the Agco flag is on of the kings in produce there engines. And also Fendt is here a big one to do this.
