I have a 18' Gleaner grain head, serial number LMF294761L and I was looking to add poly pads to the bottom. The metals are getting wore out. Is this head known as the "Series II" header? I am seeing a poly kit for Gleaner Series II headers and the series II headers I am finding on the internet look about the same as mine. Thanks.

If it is a 1978 it is a series 2....series 3 came in 1983 if I remember right. If there are feathering sheets between the sickle and the header floor that you can flip forward to "open" them, it is a series 2. Series 3 are known as the "flat bottom" feathering sheets as they are an integrel part of the header.

well it has a black frame and reel, not the orange one, so im assuming it is at least a series two. the feathering sheets you are talking about move up and down with the sickle knife, correct? thanks.

I had a series 2 M grain head and I added the plastic to the bottom of the skid plates that ride the ground. I purchased a chunk of white plastic and cut and made them fit. It worked out well and had very little cost. I got the material from this place. http://www.eflighting.com/default.html - http://www.eflighting.com/default.html They are out of Hooper Ne.
