It would seem to be too late but maybe soybeans.  They are usually planted following wheat as a second crop.  Den

Probably planting soybeans after wheat, or soybeans first time?? If planting into a standing crop, then maybe planting cover crop instead of aerial seeding/spreading it for a better seed-to-soil germination?

This was first time planting river bottom this year. Are they far enough south to get a bean crop now?

I'm down by Joplin MO and people are still planting beans. I had some drown out, replanted, got a big rain and drowned them again. When the re-replant was going to be something like 45 days later than the first job and the last week in July I decided a thin stand was better than hitting it again

Some guys plant later, and it often works ok, but have an early freeze and they are in big trouble!

I have several friends in the KC area and they were woefully behind because of the weather. So I would guess beans.

Saw beans that had just come up on the trip to Hutch! Corn about 8 inches tall too, suppose you could chop it.

Have a neighbor who is trying the organic thing. Not sure when he planted it but don't think his corn will amount to anything this year. If it makes ears it'll be 30+ % moister if we have a good drying fall!
