This tractor is claimed to go over 40 MPH because of the 2 tranny set up. I understand an overdrive for a small increase but how does 2 trannys change your top end, isn't 4th or high gear 1:1 ratio?

The second tranny is a WC gearbox, installed backwards, obvious because of the clearance hump in the side of the tranny for the reverse shifter fork, on the front gearbox, the hump is on the left, and on the rear box, it's on the right.

OK, I see how having one backwards would do it. Thanks

Could the uninformed assume the WC tranny is about a foot or so long? Bolt together stuff shows some real creativity. How many adapters are likely used here?

I have no clue, but if the second trans was installed backwards, then hows come I can read the shift legend?

The sheet metal doesn't seem right for a 35. LOL

The more I think about it, the more inclined I am to say Ford AA trans.

That is the same setup my dad used to build his homemade tractor back in the fifties.

Two of those trannies, a narrowed worm rearend, and wisconsin 2-cyl.

Blow the picture up and it shows that the shift pattern was put on there with magic marker, the other clue is the casting number in the shift tower (1219) which is on the front side of a WC gearbox

I wouldn't want to be puttin' too much load on that tractor with the first tranny in low or 2nd.; might blow the second tranny to smithereens? They definitely were not designed for that much torque input!

OK, I get it Ken, you're saying that the second is a WC too - just flipped around...
duh, I see the "other" shift legend hiding behind the shifter tower.

Very clever, those Japaneses...
