Greetings, I am a newbie to the forum. Just bought a Model #74 2 row. With it came an 18T and 22T drive and driven sprocket and two 16 cell corn plates. I paid for the pdf down load of the manual and clearly see that I am a bit screwed on the sprockets. Here are the questions. 1. Anyone have any sprockets they'd sell? 2. Anyone know a source for more sprockets? 3. Has anyone taken the current driven hex off the 3/4 inch shaft and fit a JD or other drive sprocket set to "modernize" their machine? All help is welcome John

| I think model 74 units used 2040 roller chain, correct?? If so, you can use sprockets from a 330 planter frame or 78 or 79 row units. Anything older (770 frame, 77 units, etc) used a flat link chain instead of long link roller chain. I know what you need, but I don't have any. |

Thank you for the reply. So I am new to types of chains etc. Here is a photo of my unit's front sprocket and chain. Is this the roller chain you mention above?  So I spoke to my local AGCO parts dude today. We ran into a snag as the part says both 8T type or 16T type. My sprocket above is stamped 22 and has 22 teeth. But the chain in the above photo has two teeth per "link hole." Help me understand, please. |

| Well, 22 is 11 and 16 is 8. As long as you are consistent in your counting. I'll bet if you use 11 and 8 your population is close to where you want to be ?? The old chain would have been using 11 and 8 as the teeth were WIDER. You only use every other tooth anyway on those sprockets with that chain. |

Thank you doctor! What would your prescription be for driven sprocket and drive sprockets if I am planting sunflower seeds with a 24 cell plate and seeking a 5" to 6" spacing driving between 3 to 4 mph and using the 5" center press wheel? According to page 26 of the Model #73/74 manual, the table for the 24 cell plate says: Remember I have two sprockets already. One stamped 18 and another stamped 22  |

| You need an 18/36 driver to a 9/18 driven to get 5.60" inch spacing. Looks like you are planting extremely heavy by the chart. |

Thank you. So in the AGCO parts book for the Model 74 here are the sprocket options. Based on below I should order 70591562 and 70591570?   |

| You said you already had a 9-18 on hand. You need to buy a 70591570 which is 18-36 teeth and install it on the press wheel and use the 9-18's on the planter box. |
