will a 426 turbo work on a 301? the 301 is in my 7020 that has been turned up on the pump only reason I ask as the local salvage yard has a pretty nice 426 turbo

Sure it will work, but not correctly. You won't like it, as the spool-up factor will be way too slow.

An out of the box 3 LM may work for you better

NO! A 3LM466 is not a good match for a 301 in a farm tractor!

Likely not too expensive to get the proper new turbo for it. Then it's sized correctly for the engine and driveability

I have a RAY JAY turbo for a 301, has very few hours on a rebuild. Can have it for $200.00

Problem with a Rajay brand is nothing connects up like an Air-Research. Oil lines and crossover tube all different. 7020's never came with Rajay's if I remember right.

It would be better to put the 426 turbo on than the 3LM466. I've ran across so many people thinking it would be good, and it has it's place, but on a 301 farm use tractor, it is way too big! The correct turbo for a 7020 I believe is slightly different than the other non intercooled 301's, not sure what is different about it.
