A local Grain elevator burnt down today . Bradforton Coop and grain elevator west of Springfield on Rte 97/125 . I grew up a 1/4 mile to the east on our family farm . It had been there since 1919 . We never had a feed grinder or sheller on our farm . Always took some ear corn up to the elevator and had it done . They had an AC forklift that they still used . Not sure if it got destroyed or not . Trying to download some photos now . No employees got hurt and hopefully no firefighters get hurt.

Yes John they got it put out . Firefighters did a good job from letting it spread . Went and took some after photos this morning. This place was a big part of my life growing up . I can remember riding in a flare box wagon full of ear corn as my father pulled it with one of our D-17s. After pulling across the scale he would go in the office to conduct "business". He would tell me to pull the wagon up through the building and dump the ear corn to be ground into cow feed . I was probably too young to be doing this stuff but sure felt important and part of the process. Funny when something is there so long , you think it will always be there. Grain silos were un affected and they were open for business today. Haven't heard if they will replace the building or not. They have a store they will keep open but their feed grinding operation is the only one around for a long ways . Farmers with livestock are scrambling to find new sources.

Pat, is that on the same road as Stone Seed? If so, I've been by there several times.

I remember when they closed the mill in Navarino because no one would insure the wooden structure. Building was sound but insurance companies said a wooden feed mill was to much liability
