I spent yesterday working on building and installing a throttle pedal for my lawnmower. the hand throttle was starting to slip and I could have replaced the lock nut that holds the assembly together but that wouldn't have given me two days of headaches. I first had to build the pedal. I ordered a brake assembly for a bicycle to use as the pedal. I needed a some kind of throttle line to make everything work but luckily, the geniuses at Allis Chalmers HQ sometime in the late 70s / early 80s was kind enough to provide me with everything I needed to do this mod. I harvested the original throttle cable straight off the hand throttle and put it in the vice to heat it up and give each end a nice hook from the lighting bolt shape it had. Then I attached one hook to the "gas pedal" and crimped everything together. At this point I had what seemed to be a functional pedal, when I pushed it down the cable pulled back with it. All that was left to do was install it. I drilled two holes into the left foot plate and attached a 6" (1 1/2") pvc pipe to that so it extended off the end about 3/4 of an inch. Then I used 5/16th grade 8 bolts to attach it to the tractor. This gave me the correct angel to mount the pedal to and meant all that was left to do was attach it to the throttle itself. Because I was coming in on the opposite side as the original setup, I literally just took the spring off, and attached it to the exhaust pipe. with some spring adjustment I fount this worked well. I then took the original cable clip, drilled a bigger hole into it and attached that to the outer exhaust bracket. (I won't tell you about dropping a bolt into the engine and having to disassemble everything at the very end) anyhow I got it all working and it does need a couple tunes, if I had any way of sourcing a new cable of that quality that was a little longer... I wish... I don't know how to upload pictures but comment an email and I can send you it

I noticed a lot of GT pulling Tractors, they run a gas pedal which is mounted on the foot rest of the Tractor. Not sure if they make those or can purchase them through an outfit that sells pulling Tractor parts. Its always easier to control the throttle with your foot no matter what its on... Steve@B&B
