Hi all just posting the pictures that is on my calendar for March the calendar is form my local transport company this year marks 100 years in business so they have some great old trucks this is a Mercedes from the late 1960 note the sheep loading ramp on the side of the crate and the cab over crate typical of the day.

Hiya Kiwi, great memory photo there.  Brings back memories I had of California trucks in the 1970s, they preferred straight trucks and towed full trailers then as well.

35 years ago, around here, everyone used "cattle trucks". Now everyone uses trailers.

It so much easier to get them to step on step into a trailer than it was trying to get them up a ramp into a truck.

never seen a livestock hauler that carries their own loading chute! that's a cool pic! thanks!

Dad fed fat cattle for 30 years or so. All hauled in stock trucks. They all had pull out chutes under the center of the bed. I think they were Omaha Standard boxes. They dropped the sides down in the fall and hauled grain. Several cab over GMC's, Fords and quite a few Chevy's. The cab over GMC's had 18' boxes and could squeeze in 1 or 2 extra fat steers/heifers. Most others had 16' boxes. Great pictures thank you for sharing
