My guess, and that is exactly what it is, a guess, would be some sort of material handling vehicle for in a factory setting, much like the AC G's that they put the bed on. ------------- I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. IIRC the military had something similar but I think in was on a slightly smaller chassis. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

The auction has some luggage handling wagons, so maybe it came from an airport or train station. Looks like a cutout behind the cab, possibly steps? The one I was thinking of was larger that the Mule and had an enclosed operator station. Might have been an Air Force pallet transport and loader. The Mule was good at slow speeds but would roll over in a high speed turn. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

I got it! You know the little tugs with the conveyor belt on them for loading the luggage into the plane? With the side cab this thing coulda had a conveyor on it! It coulda also had a set of steps on it. ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |

| yeah...these were used for hauling long steel and lumber, could be loaded with a forklift, the side doors open for the forks to go in and lower it's forks from under it's load. usually them doors are off them so the driver don't hafta open and close them each time. smaller versions were used as product gathering in warehouses, they are still made and used. that one is in great condition for it's age. most of them made/used nowadays are electric. almost bought one a couple years ago, but they are only good on hard pavement, don't do good on dirt/gravel/rock. the one John pictured would prolly do o-k on off road, it appears to be about a 1 ton unit and with proper tires.... |
