I will be replacing the carb on series 1 d-17 soon. Original service manual lists a zenith, but I know afterwards most were marvel schebler. Do you guys prefer one over the other?? Also has anyone tried the look-alike marvel schebler ?? $365.00 seems a little high for a knock-off!! thanks keith so.va.

According to the parts manual, A-C used one of three models of Marvel-Schebler carbs on Series I tractors starting with Ser. #24001 and continuing through all the Series II tractors. TSX-561, TSX464 or TSX773.

I think Zenith carbs are good and I have smaller versions on many small engines around the place. In my opinion, the M-S carbs are much simpler to work on.
