Does any body know the Winter starting procedures for a 920 Diesel.

I hold the pre-heat button for 30 to 40 seconds, release and start. If the engine doesn't take off after about 6 seconds , stop and pre heat again for about 30 seconds, release it and try to start.   I've had my 920 since new and this works for me.  Make sure your battery is fully charged.

Did start with a little eather. Idle rough for a while, then sped up by itself. What happened

I never use ether on diesels as it is hard on an engine. They will become addicted to it. I know that sounds weird but it is true. I know of several folks that have had to use it in the summer time because they had used it the winter time on a regular basis. Use the preheater as described above. It will have your engine running in no time. Give your starter a rest between starting attempts so you don't over heat it.
