Lucky enough to buy a ROPS off another 6060 donor tractor from a friend and forum member. Sadly the donor tractor was overcome by fire due to a frayed block heater cord last winter. Man this was quite a job, those frame members running the length of the platform were quite difficult to remove with the ROPS in place. Bought a separate ROPS that didn’t have the mounts included. Not sure of the ROPS weight but I’m guessing 250 lbs. If you ever do this, remove the bolts holding the ROPS together and separate them to remove or install. We learned the hard way. 3 brothers being 50 something, we realized we are not quite as strong as we used to be lol. Plus they are very awkward to handle on and off the tractor. Painted ROPS on the day after Thanksgiving and the roof on Sat**day. Installed Sunday afternoon. it’s been 20 plus years since we did it but don’t remember it to be nearly as bad. Two of our 6080’s have them and yes they are great. Did the burnt one have a front weight bracket by chance? ------------- 8030 and 8050MFWD, 7580, 3 6080's, 160, 7060, 175, heirloom D17, Deere 8760 |

Not sure if it has a weight bracket on it but I can find out. The install went better than the removal. The fuel tank of course had melted in the fire and oozed all over the left side of the tractor. So removing bolts was a big problem. As I mentioned we bought another ROPS that he had unaware that it required the rail that runs the full length of the platform. Charlie pulled up the schematic off the AGCO books and that’s when we realized what we were missing. So, looking back we should have disassembled the ROPS on the donor tractor, removed it and then removed the frame rails. The weight of the ROPS sitting on the platform made the job more difficult than it had to be. Your story is painfully similar to mine. Lol. We got mine home 3 hours from the salvage yard and thought hmmmm their should be something more to support the canopy under the platform. We called our dealer and yup it has channels so called salvage yard and found someone smarter and straightened things out and few days later drove back after them. Guy at salvage yard did the removal with a bit of our help. Of course they rip and tear so it went fast. Reinstall went good.
