Last summer my hydraulic pto quit. What steps should I follow to trouble shoot it? All the rest of the hydraulics seem fine, although the steering was stuck trying to turn right and ruptured the oil cooler. Thanks again.

Start by grabbing the PTO shaft with the engine off and tell me if it turns easily or not. Tell me if it takes a pair of pliers to turn it or bare hands.

Look behind the battery box and you (hopefully) will see a short lever. Rotate that lever counterclockwise while someone turns the PTO shaft to align the splines and lock it back into gear. This lever does the same thing as a D-17 PTO lever.

I checked and didn't see any lever. What would be my next step?

Then, yours is new enough to not have that lever feature. It sounds like you need to remove the Power Director valve and cover plate, after draining the hydraulic oil. Reach in with a long pry bar and while someone turns the PTO shaft at the rear, you pry the spring loaded coupler rearward to re-engage it. Seen it before and usually related to a sudden shock load that can force them into neutral.
