Some of us seem to have to many points - the goal seems to be after so many points you get a message that says GET A LIFE - but guess I haven't reached it yet .

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

That question was asked by a new member on another site. Turned out to be 11 or 12 year old wanting to be like the old timers on that site. But Wink you have "history" so I guess it is not asking to fool anyone.LOL

Wouldn't it be nice to know what we know but have a teenagers body without all the old pains.LOL

Maybe we should do it the way the socialists do.  Add up alla the points, take like 60% of them out for administrative costs, then distribute them to the less privileged...Wink

Well......actually, I first came here in 1999 when I got my first computer and I have copies of some of the posts from that era to prove it. Anybody else remember guys like Ted Buisker? Can it really be 21 years?

I don't really care.....it is still the very first site I visit every day.

So that's the points.... What's with the 5 stars and "orange level"?

5 stars is a rating, when you click on the post, look above it, and it says rate the topic.  click on how high you want to rate it.  If yours is the only rating of it its gonna be 5 stars.  if you only rate it 1 , it will drag down the rating.  really it means nothing, its not used much...

As for the level, I think it change, as your points go up...  I think mine is up to old fart, or something like that, I don't look or care, that much...Wink

on edit, the 5 stars under your name disappears as your points get higher.  not real familiar with that end of things.  if it matters, you're halfway there, by the looks of it...LOL

I began visiting here more than 20 years ago. Seemed like 6 posts a day was about average. Remember Brian from Australia? Ted B still posts once in a while. I visited Ted's place after the first GOTO in Union Grove. WI. Bob@allisdowneast

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

Who was the guy from down south that always dressed in Confederate Uniform ?  Ha a patch over his eye in his photos and carried a musket..  He was single and then got married 10-12 years ago and moved somewhere else with new wife ?

-------------
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

You know, I was rather close to Brian from Australia.  One time I wrote him a message thanking him for his support of something the US was doing.  He wrote back saying how much he appreciated the US since they stopped the Japanese in WWII.  He felt they would have taken his continent if we had not stepped in.
He was an Australian soldier in Vietnam.  This led to a lot of posts concerning various political, military, and nonpolitical things.  Since he was on the other side of the international date line I would close every post before my usual Good Luck with "from your yesterday to my tomorrows".
Great Guy.  Something disappointed him and he went to face book.  Then he just disappeared.  Still have some items he sent me - a mouse pad with a B, a calendar with a C which still decorates my small refrigerator, a magnetic picture of me with SteveNJ  He was closer to Tony.  We all wondered what happened.
Frankly I really miss him.
Memories.  GREAT ONES.
Good Luck!

Do you remember the either two legged horse or was it a horse with two wheels that Brian posted?

His first wife passed on, He was living on the eastern shore of MD, remarried, moved to NC.  Can't remember his name or handle, but he was a civil war re-enactor, who used the phrase " give em cold steel, boys!"  might have been John something or other.. My brain hurts, now.Wink

Actually, I have been here since 1996 when it was still called 3000 toys  I recommended the current name to keep it simple and easy to find.  He may have had other recommendations of that name too, I don't know.  I used to post a lot more when the knowledge base was thin, but now the knowledge base has pretty much passed me by so I don't post very often any more.

Brian is still kicking, in Australia.   I've kept in contact with him, but he has recently moved and I've not had contact with him since.  Not sure what happened.
Another person I remember and who was active was Rich(Navy) or something similar.  he was out in western Indiana or southern Illinois.  He developed cancer and I remember a bunch of us were rooting him on as he still had kids at home.   He finally passed.  He was a great guy.

Brian, Tony and I kept in contact for a while. I remember Brian saying he had an issue with the service company supplying his internet.  It doubled in price or something of that nature, and he was unable or refused to pay for it at that ridiculous price. Hence he disappeared and I wasn't able to reach him anymore. The last I chatted with him before he lost his internet he was doing some bike tours on his motorcycle. Send me a couple pics of him and his bike....  He was a great guy.  BTW, Tony and I still call each other on the phone and keep in touch with one another.  Some of them forest fires were gettin' a bit close to him and Nonnie.

Been a long ride.  Sure have gained some friends along the way, and made a small but happy livelihood out of it.

he got caught up by mistake in a conversation in the politics room, and somebody fired a nasty shot at him. He became offended and left. The funny thing was, the shot that was fired was a response to something someone else had said, not Bubba, but before anyone could get it sorted out, Bubba was gone. I like him too, he was a good guy
