I have a AC 1 row planter that was made from a larger planter. I have a 28, 24 and 20 tooth sprockets. This year I used the 24 tooth with a 24 cell plate to plant sweet corn. Spacing was too far apart, 15 inchs, prefer 9 inches, I will be getting a 16 cell plate from Lincoln Ag Products, but still need help with the sprocket set-up. Do not have a manual. Any help with the setup would be appreciated. The circumference of the drive wheel is 60 inches.

Looks like you used a 20 driver and 24 driven. and you got 15 inch spacing or 8 plants per 10 feet of row. So that was with a ratio of 1:1.2 or .8333:1.

For 9" spacing you wish 13.3333 per 10 feet and that would take a ratio increase of 13.333/8 times .8333 or a ratio of 1.389:1. If you use a 28 driver and a 20 driven you get a drive ratio of 1.4:1 and that will get you 13.44 plants per 10 feet or a plant spacing of 8.92".

Thanks Gerald J. Just so I am clear, the driver sprocket is on the back drive wheel and the driven is controling the seed drop, correct? Again, thank you

Does a 16 cell or 24 cell plate drop seed closer?

24 cell if the chain sprockets are the same. The rate is the same if you turn the 16 cell 50% faster than the 24 cell. Likely big seed won't fit the 24 cell, and two small seed might fit the 16 cell which affects your choice of plate and seed.

Ray

The part numbers (sprockets) I am looking for are 70591561 (8 tooth)  and 70591568 (15 tooth).   I have a 333 plater with 73 unit number. Seems to wrok best with this setup. Any Ideas where I might find them
